Volunteers are at the core of WAMSO – Minnesota Orchestra Volunteer Association’s work to fulfill our mission of providing support for the Minnesota Orchestra and promoting music education. WAMSO volunteer opportunities can be found with the Orchestra and with WAMSO’s music education programs. Kinder Konzerts Docents

The perfect way to combine a love of music and children! Docents introduce four- and five-year-old children to instruments, sounds and rhythms through hands-on experimentation in a Sound Factory. Volunteer docents also lead children to the Orchestra Hall stage for a concert with an ensemble of Minnesota Orchestra musicians, designed especially for children.  Enthusiasm for working with young children, patience and good humor, and a desire to provide a positive musical experience for young children are important qualifications for Kinder Konzerts Docents.

Volunteer ushers provide excellent, volunteer-driven customer service to patrons attending concerts at Orchestra Hall. Ushers attend a pre-concert meeting, help seat attendees, and answer patron questions. Volunteers are able to watch the concert after late seating and then return to their post for intermission and post-concert duties. Benefits include discounts and ticket vouchers after a certain number of concerts worked and assuring the sustainability of the Minnesota Orchestra.

Coffee Concert Ushers

Volunteer ushers provide customer service to patrons attending Coffee Concerts on selected Thursday mornings during the concert season.  Volunteers work with the paid usher staff to provide the highest quality of customer service.  You must be a WAMSO member to participate.
